Focused on your development
The concept for this camp is to focus on teaching and developing each official that attends. Even though we are not a hiring camp, we still have great guests; like Bryan Kersey (pictured). Our team has a strong background in teaching, training and being available to help you take your next step. If you’ve never really been shown the right ways or would like to come get a refresher. We’d love to teach you.
Our all-volunteer staff is passionate about basketball officiating, teaching, and giving back to the next generation of basketball officials. We believe strongly in providing affordable opportunities to better your officiating, without sacrificing quality of training. Our staff comes with a depth of experience that includes hundreds of VHSL State Championships and multiple games worked in the NCAA and Professional leagues.
Steve Gordon
The Big Dog
Steve had a distinguished career as a VHSL State Official and spent 25 years as an NCAA Division I Official which included 22 Years in the ACC and included 17 straight years in the ACC Tournament and 10 years in the NCAA Tournaments. Steve retired from officiating in 2008 and now focuses his time on mentoring up and coming officials and giving back to the game. In addition to staying involved in the game of basketball Steve enjoys spending time with his wife Pam and their children and grandchildren.

We value the importance of video as a great resource from which to learn. Officials will receive a recorded copy of each game worked.

The Steve Gordon Basketball Officials Camp Staff is filled with highly accomplished officials that have enjoyed much success over the years. The staff will include State Championship level officials from across the state, college and professional officials, assigners and scouts. Our camp will also have an open door policy for all VHSL Commissioners to attend at any time.
